ONGC Apprentice Recruitment 2025 : India’s flagship energy major invites 10th pass, ITI, Diploma and Graduate candidates for a training period of 12 months; Selection based on merit, no application fee. Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), known as India’s flagship energy major and a ‘Maharatna’ Central Public Sector Enterprise engaged in exploration and production of oil and gas in India and abroad, has issued an official notification (Advertisement No.: ONGC/APPR/1/2025) for the recruitment of apprentices.

The move is part of the skill building initiative for the nation.

A total of 2623 apprentice vacancies have been advertised across 25 operational work centres across the country.

Important Dates and Application Details

The application process started on 16 October 2025, and the last date for receipt of applications is 06 November 2025. The results and selection list are scheduled to be declared on 26 November 2025. Importantly, there is no fee to apply for any candidate category.

The duration of apprenticeship training for all the mentioned trades is 12 months.

Distribution of vacancies across sectors

This massive recruitment drive covers six major sectors, with the highest number of vacancies in the Western and Mumbai sectors:

Candidates must select their occupation/location based on their preference, including residence requirements from the eligible districts corresponding to the chosen work centre Fulfills all the eligibility criteria.

Eligibility and Selection Process

ONGC Apprenticeship is open to candidates with various qualifications ranging from 10th pass to Engineering Degree.

Age Criteria

Candidates should be minimum 18 years and maximum 24 years of age as on 06 November 2025 (i.e. date of birth should be between 06.11.2001 and 06.11.2007). Age relaxation benefits are provided for reserved categories, which include 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer) and up to 10 years for PwBD candidates (up to 15 years for PwBD SC/ST and 13 years for PwBD OBC).

Educational Qualification

Required qualifications depend on the specific trade or discipline:

Trade Apprentice (NAPS): Generally ITI in the relevant trade (e.g., Electrician, Fitter, Machinist, COPA, Welder) or at least 10th pass (e.g., Library Assistant) is required.

Diploma/Executive (NAPS): Three years diploma in relevant engineering disciplines is required for roles like Computer Science Executive or Fire Safety Supervisor.

Graduate/Executive (NAPS/NATS): A bachelor’s degree such as B.Sc. (Chemistry) is required for Lab Chemist/Analyst, B.B.A. for Executive HR, Graduate for Secretarial Office Assistant or Store Keeper, or Bachelor of Commerce for Accounts Executive. Engineering graduates (B.E./B.Tech) are required for roles like Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Executive (Graduate).

The selection process will be purely merit-based, which will be done only on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination as mentioned in the advertisement. There is no written test or interview mentioned for this recruitment. In case of equal marks in merit, the person having higher age will be included.

Stipend Structure

The selected apprentices will get a monthly stipend during their 12 months training period, which varies depending on their qualification level:

Graduate Apprentice (B.A./B.Com/B.Sc./B.B.A./B.E./B.Tech): ₹12,300/- per month.

  • Three-year Diploma Apprentice: ₹10,900/- per month.
  • ITI Trade Apprentice (Two years duration): ₹10,560/- per month.
  • ITI Trade Apprentice (One year duration): ₹9,600/- per month.
  • Trade Apprentice (10th/12th pass): ₹8,200/- per month.

The trainee is not eligible for any TA-DA/Boarding or accommodation expenses incurred during the training period and ONGC will not provide financial assistance for transportation.

For NAPS Trades (Serial No. 1 to 29): Candidates must register on the Skill India Portal of the Government of India, which is available at https://apprenticeshipindia.gov.in.

For NATS Trades (Serial No. 30 to 39): Candidates must register on the portal of Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT), which is available at https://nats.education.gov.in.
